My list of blogs on Italy is getting so long, that I am planning to classify them by region, similar to the ones I have done on food and wine and photoblogs. This is work in progress, but a first pass has shown, and probably not surprising, that most of the folk blogging about Italy are based in Tuscany. Lazio – predominantly Rome – comes in second, followed by Veneto (including Venice), and Lombardy (with Milan). Again, we could probably have guessed that, but it is always good to have confirmation.
No one on my list comes from the Aosta Valley or Trentino-Alto Adige, and it was only after searching that I came up with a solitary blog from Sardinia. Do let me know if you come across blogs from these regions.
So what do the numbers look like?
# blogs/region
37 Tuscany (including Florence)
25 Lazio (including Rome)
20 Veneto (including Venice)
19 Lombardy (including Milan)
11 Umbria
11 Sicily
10 Piedmont
8 Le Marche
8 Campania (including the Amalfi Coast)
7 Emilia Romagna
4 Calabria
4 Puglia
4 Liguria
3 Abruzzo
3 Fruili- Venezia Giulia
2 Molise
1 Basilicata
1 Sardinia
0 Aosta Valley
0 Trentino - Alto Adige
So, is this pretty much what you would expect? Personally, I thought the numbers for Puglia and Sardinia would be higher.
Peter and Anne from the UK are running a B&B in the Ogliastra region of Sardinia. Their blog is at : http://www.peteranne.it/wp/
I don’t blog just about Italy, but I am American and my blog and I are in Trentino-Südtirol.
Great list! Yes, I am not surprised either, but it is fun to see. Grazie!
